Christmas is celebrated on January 6th in the Armenian Church, so many Armenians in the west get to celebrate the birth of our Lord two times, on December 25th and again on January 6! In the Armenian Church, we celebrate not only Jesus' birth, but his baptism as well, where Jesus was proclaimed by God to be God's Beloved Son.
Traditionally, water is blessed after Divine Liturgy is celebrated, and shared to help us remember Jesus' baptism. This year, we will celebrate Christmas here in our small Armenian community of Austin on January 17, 2014. See the Events section of the About page on this site for more details. Hope to see you there!
