JUNE 2018 DIVINE LITURGY WHAT: We will celebrate a Divine Liturgy at 11AM with our visiting pastor, Rev. Fr. Yeprem Kelegian. There will be Sunday School in the Church Hall. During the fellowship, there will be a presentation on what is (politically) happening in Armenia. COOKOUT BY THE UT ARMENIAN STUDENTS WHAT: The UT Armenian Students Association is having a cookout. They will be serving Armenian kebabs, vegetable kebabs, rice pilaf, and baklava. On Armenian Christmas day, 6th of January, 2018, the AustinHye community organized a gathering at the St. Elias Orthodox church in downtown Austin to celebrate Christmas. The day started with the Badarak celebrated by Father Yeprem Kelegian from Racine, Wisconsin, who flew to Austin to be with the AustinHye community over those special few days. Father Yeprem’s service was very heartwarming, enlightening and personal! Armenian Christmas, he said, Asdvadzahaydnootiun, celebrates His appearing to the world. “We must always be open to Him appearing in our lives today”. His sermon centered on how we have all experienced epiphanies of God in our lives. A sermon was also given to the children as he incorporated them into the blessing of the water. After the service, around fifty attendees moved to the hall for luncheon. A true sense of community was apparent! A table was set with homemade dishes and desserts offered by the AustinHye community members. Everybody enjoyed a wonderful meal, followed by singing Christmas carols.

Some famous poems will be read both in English and Armenian along with beautiful romantic music playing in the background. As a closure, we will read Vahan Tekeyan's poem "The Armenian Church." A CONCERT OF CLASSICAL SANTOUR & PIANO WITH SARKIS PETROSIAN & HAMAYAG HOVANESSIAN Sarkis Petrosyan, born and raised in Yerevan Armenia is considered one of the preeminent Armenian Santour musicians having studied at the Komitas Conservatory in Armenia. Sarkis joined the Armenian Philharmonic and founded the Armenian Folk Music Orchestra and the Tkzar Folk Orchestra. EASTER DIVINE LITURGY Our Easter Eve service will be on the Saturday of the Easter weekend. It is such a rare occurrence to find an available Armenian priest on Easter weekend that we hope you will make plans to come join us! JOINT AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO PICNIC On Sunday, April 23, the Armenians in San Antonio and Austin are having a joint picnic starting at noon. This is an opportunity to enjoy a great picnic with Armenians across central Texas. We are planning a soccer game, tavloo tournament, a great picnic featuring all of your favorite kebobs and side dishes, and a special commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. As part of our commemoration, you will have an opportunity to create a card to send to Armenian residents at the Armenian Nursing Home in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. A full Armenian meal is available at the advanced ticket price of $7 for adults and $4 for children.
