Christos dzunav yev haydnetsav Orhnial e haydnoutiounun Krisdosi
On Armenian Christmas day, 6th of January, 2018, the AustinHye community organized a gathering at the St. Elias Orthodox church in downtown Austin to celebrate Christmas. The day started with the Badarak celebrated by Father Yeprem Kelegian from Racine, Wisconsin, who flew to Austin to be with the AustinHye community over those special few days. Father Yeprem’s service was very heartwarming, enlightening and personal! Armenian Christmas, he said, Asdvadzahaydnootiun, celebrates His appearing to the world. “We must always be open to Him appearing in our lives today”. His sermon centered on how we have all experienced epiphanies of God in our lives. A sermon was also given to the children as he incorporated them into the blessing of the water. After the service, around fifty attendees moved to the hall for luncheon. A true sense of community was apparent! A table was set with homemade dishes and desserts offered by the AustinHye community members. Everybody enjoyed a wonderful meal, followed by singing Christmas carols.
