IS THERE AN ACTIVE ARMENIAN COMMUNITY IN AUSTIN?
Yes, there is an Armenian community here, and like the Austin Metro area it is growing and changing fast. We have hundreds of addresses on our mailing list. We are Armenians from all over the world who have settled in Austin and are loving it. Our community is different from other older and larger communities because here we cherish every Armenian and strive to build a loving, caring community where we share and celebrate our culture and history with ourselves and others.
HOW MANY Armenians call Austin home?
While it's actually a bit hard to get an exact count, we have hundreds of addresses on our email list and it's growing every day.
IS there an armenian school in austin?
While Austin does not have a full time day school like some larger Armenian communities do, we strive to teach our kids and adults our language, culture and history. Also, we believe in a bright future for our growing community and even someday perhaps day school for the generations of Armenians to come.
HOW LONG HAS THERE BEEN AN ARMENIAN COMMUNITY IN AUSTIN?
There's been a community here in Austin at least back to the 1970's as our community historians tell us. It really all started around the University of Texas at Austin, where Armenian students formed an Armenian Student Association and grew it into something more after graduation.
IS THERE AN Armenian CHURCH in AUSTIN?
There is! It is called the Armenian Church of Austin and as a mission parish of the Diocese of the Armenian Church - Eastern US, it has been the focal point for gathering our community together with religious services, cultural and social events for some time now. We have a vision to build a space for worship and community events. As of today, we meet in different churches and venues around town.
I am new to Austin, How do I get Involved?
First of all, a warm welcome to Austin! We can't wait to meet you! There are several things you should do to get started:
1. Sign up for our "Austinhye" email list by completing a the short form on this site or by visiting: https://utlists.utexas.edu/sympa/subscribe/austinhye
2. If you are a Facebook user, there are several groups you can follow: The Armenian Church of Austin, Austin Hye Armenians & Texas Armenians. There may be others as well, but we'll leave that to you.
3. You can also email us at: info@armenianchurchofaustin.net and let us know you've landed in Austin or ask any question you might have.
4. Visit our Events listing for upcoming activities, and scroll through past events to get a sense of our activities.

WHAT KINDS OF ACTIVITIES DO you TYPICALLY ORGANIZE FOR THE COMMUNITY?
We have everything from worship services, bible studies, and reflections to grow spiritually to dance classes, Armenian language lessons, concerts, and poetry readings to educate and enrich ourselves with Armenian cultural identity. And we also love to have fun with events like picnics, coffee meetups, and other social activities that help us meet and build connections with each other. Finally, we organize and support Armenia and Artsakh through fundraising and activism. Visit our Events listing for upcoming events, and scroll through past events to get a sense of our activities.
